Intro - Latest and Greatest

H.E.A.R.T. Martial Arts is more than just kicking and punching, it is about building a healthy Mind, Body and Spirit. While other martial arts classes may talk about building one's character and tempering the spirit we actually make it a requirement for class participation. Our classes are free in a monetary sense but our students must "earn" their instruction by giving from their hearts to help others (For the week in which volunteer work is completed for a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit/Charity organization we will reward you or your child with free Martial Arts lessons).

Volunteer work (civic engagement) is mandatory for all participants. In this way the students learn first hand the value and importance of their role in the community and beyond. This it not to say we tell the students what organization to volunteer for, actually they choose the cause and we vote as a team, working together to help those organizations/causes that have been chosen.

The students are given the power! The students choose! The students vote! We fight together to make a difference!

H.E.A.R.T. Martial Arts Fall 2012 Citizen Schools WOW! Performance

Below is one our many showcase videos that can be seen on our blog. This video of last semester's community performance helps to encapsulate everything that this program has to offer. Enjoy, and please help spread the word about our organization and its efforts.

A special thank you to the Citizen Schools team of Newark, NJ.

Without your vision and help this "idea" may have never taken root, the joy

that it brings me to see the students truly connect with such a simple

concept goes without measure. I am truly grateful for the opportunity you

have given me and the support that you so passionately give that enable

this program to enrich my life and hopefully the lives of all those involved.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. — Sensei Jim

now has classes at the

Newark Police Academy

H.E.A.R.T. Martial Arts now has classes at the Newark Police Academy (Located at 1 Lincoln Ave.) on Monday from 5 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. and Friday nights from 5:30 P.M. to 7 P.M.

The classes are still free provided you "earn" them by doing volunteer work for various local, national and or global nonprofit groups. The choice is yours, you choose the Federally recognized 501(c)(3) Nonprofit group to help! We just need to coordinate the volunteer work with the Nonprofit's Program Director. That's it! You get two days or Martial Arts lessons for every one day of volunteer work!

For additional information see our Location and Class Schedule page. If you are interested in enrolling yourself and or your child in the program please be sure to download our Enrollment Forms. Please fill in one set of forms for each student who is enrolling in the program.
